Two political pressure groups, Youth O’clock and Isoko Political Revolutionary Force have vowed to train some Isoko youths to become professional pilots and other notable professions to make their lives more meaningful.
The groups made the promise in a jointly signed statement by their leaders, Hon. Paris Blessed Ubara and Chief Austin Ejabulor at Tecla Hotel Emede, Isoko South Local Government Area of Delta State.
“The way the world is developing at the moment with technology, the time of motorcycles, Kekes, sewing machine and grinding machine for our youths is over”, the statement noted.
The groups posited that research has revealed that Nigeria can only boasts of 2,133 licensed pilots, 1,659 aircraft maintenance engineers, 371 air traffic controllers and 2,343 cabin crew licensed members.
“Despite the huge amount of oil going out of Isoko land daily, Isoko as an ethnic group amongst the total aircraft licenses crew members in Nigeria, how many can they boast of?
“This is the rhetorical question that passionately triggers our zeal to work assiduously to train minimum of 10 professional pilots for a start as a means of making our youths actualize their dreams of true greatness”, they said in the statement.
They added that ” Youth O’clock and Isoko Political Revolutionary Force have a duty to redirect the energies of our youths positively, so that gradually we can stop the menace of illegal bunkering, kidnapping, sea-piracy, drug addiction, cultism and other anti-social activities that are threatening the future of our youths”.
The groups in their statement also said that, a standard piloting course in Nigeria School costs about N7.5 million in two years professional training, noting that it is a heavy burden they are about to carry on their shoulders, but with God all things are possible with the great vision.
The groups promised to actualize their vision in conjunction with corporate organizations, non-governmental organizations and well meaning individuals who meant well for Isoko youths.
The groups however commended the Governor of Delta State for his infrastructural development initiative in bringing Julius Berger to construct roads in the State.
